Why can't life be easy?
This week has been extra challenging and I'm not even sure why.
Cranky children, inability to please everyone, mountainous laundry, and little things that just build up 'til I'm ready to throw my hands in the air and call it a day by 10:00 a.m.
Coffee, anyone?
Coffee is easy and sometimes I think an extra cup of coffee will help. At least I can caffeinate my frustrations!
Being a stay-at-home mom sounded easy before I actually jumped into the trenches of full-time motherhood. I had this vision in my mind that my house would be clean and the days would be relaxed. My presumptions were off by a few miles, but I will say the joy of raising up these boys is worth any of the struggles that arise. It's not easy but as I look over the past few years, I see growth in myself (and the boys, too, literally growing like weeds!).
If life was easy, it's very possible that my flesh would convince me that I don't need God at all. As a certain sweet toddler would say, "I do it myself!"
Struggles are humbling.
Trials grow the faith.
Hard days remind me of my weakness and my constant need for God every second of every day.
If weakness is a crownThen I kneel before You nowAnd lay it at Your feet as an offeringAnd if You hold everythingThen don’t let go of meHide me in the shadow of Your wingsOh great God of powerI have lost my strengthThis is my desperate hourI’m calling out Your name"I Cry" by Leeland

Oh my gosh! I, too, thought leaving work to stay at home would be "easier" and I would have more time. But you just find more creative ways to fill the time. ;) (Like reading FMF links ha ha)
ReplyDeleteOur posts had the same theme this week. How can something that I thought I would be a "natural" be so hard? Thank you for sharing the encouragement and the song by Leeland visiting from FMF.
ReplyDeleteSo, so true! I'm a boy mom, too, and there is nothing like it. I wouldn't call it easy, but it's quite an adventure. And one where I had no IDEA what I was in for until I got there.
ReplyDeleteI used to be a SAHM - empty-nester now. I'm sorry you've had a rough time lately and hope for a better day tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI spent a lot of years as a SAHM. 15 years actually. I spent ages helping moms transition from being working moms into being mamas at home! For the past three years I have worked full-time. It's all turned around now, and I am helping moms settle into being full-time workers. God's a funny guy.
ReplyDeleteI love your point that hard times grow our faith and the times when we can't manage by ourselves turn us to God. Love the song lyrics too!
