Unwavering Faith

The weather is finally starting to warm up here! 60 degrees is in the weekend forecast. Time to break out the shorts!

I went for a 5 mile run before the boys were up. The run felt really good, I ran some of the park hills that are still a bit snowy, and the sunrise was gorgeous. When I got back home, we all had sausage, gravy, and biscuits for breakfast. Leo headed to a meeting and Eli and I had our devotional time together. I read the Bible to him every day because Leo and I really want to impress God's Word on his heart at an early age (Deuteronomy 6:5-9). I enjoy reading to him and I know he hears me!

This morning I was studying Romans 4 and came across the story of Abraham and his righteousness. This is such a good Biblical example of unwavering faith in God no matter the circumstances! Even though it seemed impossible for him and Sarah to have children, Abraham didn't lose faith! He stood firm in his faith and God credited this to him as righteousness.
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. Romans 4:18-25
Each day I want to stand firm in my faith like Abraham. God promises to provide for our needs and I need to remind myself of that and BELIEVE that each day! I have a tendency to live out a "try harder" faith and I'm praying for God to work in my heart and remind me that it's my faith in Him that matters, not my works.

Race Report: Fargo Marathon 2023

Training for Fargo went very well and I was able to run (and enjoy!) higher mileage than I ever thought possible. When I thought that training for Fargo in 2022 was the coldest, snow-stormiest I had ever experienced, I was then humbled by 2023. This training cycle included A LOT of speedy treadmill workouts and even treadmill easy-efforts and long runs. It was just cold, icy and snowy forever!  Somehow I managed to not get sick at all in this training cycle (after a run-in with influenza over Christmas). A Gentle Feast: Cycle 1 Term 1 & 2

It's been too long since my last homeschool update; time runs away from me. Our previous school year ended abruptly and in a hard way, when my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer after Mother's Day. We completed our state testing requirements much earlier in the school year and well-exceed Minnesota's required number of school days, so we stopped the school year a week early and went to grandma & grandpa's farm to spend time together.  That's the beauty of homeschooling. There is room for flexbility, swapping around days/weeks, starting or ending early and even taking school on the road with us.  Life has been a bit different ever since then but we have made so many great memories even during tough times! Having Christmas together as a family at my parents' farm was a miracle in itself.  ---- We soaked in the summer as much as possible - full of farm things, swim lessons, 4-H, fairs, a trip to Mt.
